- The minimum length of the domain name is 3 characters extension (.fr) excluded;
- The maximum length of the domain name is 63 characters extension (.fr) excluded;

Local presence for domains .fr

- Registration of .fr domains can; be required only by individuals (private or legal), residing in the European Community, Switzerland, Norway or Iceland;
- Local Presence Service
in the event that you do not have residence / seat in the European Community, Switzerland, Norway or Iceland is an additional service that must be renewed annually with each domain it is associated with. you can buy it from here .
The activation time for the local presence service takes up to 15 days, in rare cases up to 30 days.

Restrictions for domains .fr

The .fr domain names can be registered only by natural or juridical persons having residence / seat in the European Community, otherwise Ormag offers the Local Presence service, mentioned above.

Since 6 December 2011 the French Authority no longer allows registration of the .com.fr domains but only the transfers

TRANSFER domains .fr

- The domain must be registered / renewed / transferred for at least 60 days;
- The domain must not be blocked by the current Registrar;
- The administrative contact's e-mail address must be active and reachable;
- Request the current Provider the Authorization Code (EPP key) of the domain to be transferred,
- Transfer times: up to 24-48 hours after payment confirmation and during office hours;
- It is advisable to request the transfer of the domain at least 15 days before the expiry date.
- Place the Local Presence Service order from here , in case you do not reside in the European Community, Switzerland, Norway or Iceland. it is an additional service that must be renewed annually with each domain it is associated with.
